500 ml at  5°C= 0.5 L at 278 K (simple unit conversion)

Now, the balloon is distended to 7/8th of it's total volume=0.5*7/8= 0.571 L

We know P1V1/T1=P2V2/T2

Assuming pressure constant we get V1/T1=V2/T2

V1=0.5 L, T1=278K, V2=? , T2=30°C=303k

Substituting the value we get V2=0.544 L at 303k, so balloon will not burst as it is less than 0.571 L volume.

b) For balloon to burst we need to exceed 0.571 L mark.

Using V1/t1=V2/T2

where V1=0.5 L, T1=278K and V2=0.571L.

We can find T2=317K=44.7°C approx.
