The main purpose of launching multipurpose river projects in India was to combine the development of agriculture and village economy with rapid industrialisation and urbanisation. Maximum utilization of river water resources is the main aim of multi purpose river projects.The water is not only used for agriculture but for various other purposes like domestic use,transportation,producing hydroelectricity.etc
