Ratio of A : B = 4 : 7 (Given)

1/2 of the oil in container A is poured into contain B:

1/2 x 4 = 2

.

New Ratio of A : B

A: B

= 4 - 2 : 7 + 2

= 2 : 9

.

1/3 of container B is poured into container A:

1/3 x 9 = 3

.

New Ratio of A : B

A : B

= 2 : 9

= 2 + 3 : 9 - 3

= 5 : 6

.

Answer: New ratio of the volume of oil in container A to that of container B is 5 : 6
