In RAT PQR, PQ = 8, <PQR = 90 deg, <RPQ = 42 deg. What is the length of PR?

<PRQ = 180–90–42 = 48 deg. From the sine formula

PQ/sin R = PR/sin Q = QR/sin P, or

8/sin 48 = PR/sin 90 = QR/sin 42, or

8/0.743144825 = PR/1 = QR/0.669130606

Therefore PR = 8/0.743144825 = 10.76506184. QR = 8x0.669130606/0.743144825 = 7.203232354.

PR = 10.76506184.
