ax^3 + bx^2 + x -6=0......(1)
x+2=0
then, x=-2
a(-2)^3+b(-2)^2+2-6=0
-8a+4b-8=0
2a-b+2=0.........(2)
now, x-2=0
then put x=2 in equ (1)
a(2)^3+b(2)^2+2-6=0
8x+4b-4=0
2a+b-1=0......(3)
adding equ (2) and equ (3)
a=-1/4
putting value of a in que (2)
b=3/4

shriya44: let, f(x)=ax^3+bx^2+x-6.....(1) Now, x+2=0. so, x=-2 then f(-2)=4, a(-2)^3+ b(-2)^2+ (-2)-6=4, -8a+4b-8=4, 2a-b+3=0......(2) now put x-2=0 then put x=2 in equ (1) so, f(2)=0, so, a(2)^3+ b(2)^2+ 2 -6 =0, 8a+ 4b -4=0, 2a+b-1=0......(3) solving equ (2) and (3) we get, b=2, a=-1/2
