1. a. Density = mass / volume b. Diffusion :- mixing of substance c. Particle motion :- movement of particles in a substance particularly liquid and gases.

2. This is because water has high molecular spaces and the salt which is stirred is distributed to these spaces and thus the water level does not increase.

3. a. This is because gases mainly hot gases diffuses faster than cold gases. When the food is prepared the hotness of the food in the form of gas diffuses as it has fast motion of particles and thus we get the smell of hot food. As this gas diffuses it becomes cold as it has low particles motion.

b. This is due to.process of sublimation, process of changing solid into vapour. Napthalene balls undergo sublimation and thus disappears.

4. characteristics of particles of solid :-
1.tightly packed
2.does not move
3.has particular shape

characteristics of particles of liquid :-
1.loosely packed
2.movable
3.takes the shape of container

characteristics of particles of gas:-
1.very loosely packed
2.move randomly
