the reason for victory of British in India were:

1) India was divided into many smaller provinces or states which made it easier for the British to attack and capture them

2) the rulers of smaller provinces were at war with each other and the British took advantage of this situation

3) the caste system of India resulted difference of opinion among the Indians which was an advantage to the Britishers

4) India didn't have well developed modern artillery at that time
