Mass of solid (m) = 72 g
Initial volume of water in measuring cylinder =24 cm³
Final volume of water + solid in measuring cylinder = 42cm³

Volume of solid = final - initial = 42 - 24 =18 cm³

So, density of solid (g/cm³) = mass/volume
= 72/18 = 4 g/cm³
