Bubbles form on the zinc metal. There are bubbles which float to the top indicating some kind of gas evolving [Hydrogen]. The reaction can be termed as a displacement reaction with the help of the following equation:

Zn + H2SO4 = ZnSO4 + H2

ii. a. Gas produced is hydrogen

b. Bring a lighted candle near the mouth of the tube. A pop

sound is heard indicating hydrogen gas.

Zinc + HydroChloric Acid = Zinc Chloride + Hydrogen Gas
