Answer:

Energy used by light bulbs in one day = 40w*5*4 = 0.8 kwh

Energy used by tube lights in one day = 60w*5*4 = 1.2 kwh

Energy used by TV in one day = 100 w*6 = 0.6kwh

Energy used by washing machine in one day = 400w*3 = 1.2 kwh

Total energy used in one day = 0.8 + 0.6 + 1.2 + 1.2 = 3.8 kwh

Total energy used in 30 days ( because April has 30 days) = 3.8 x 30 = 114 kwh

1 kwh = 1 unit

Cost per unit = Rs 1.8

So the bill for the entire month is 205.2 (114 x 1.8)

Answer:

₹ 638.

Explanation:

Calculation for 1 day-

a) Given,

 Power of 1 bulb= 40W.

 No. of hours used= 4hrs.

 No. of bulbs= 5.

[Formula: Energy= Power * Time]

  ∴ Energy used by 1 bulb = 40W * 4hrs. = 160 Whr.

  ∴Energy used by 5 bulbs = 160 Whr. *5 =800 Whr. = 0.8 KWh.   -(1)

b) Similarly,

Given,

 Power of 1 fan= 100W.

 No. of hours used= 2hrs.

 No. of fans=3.

[Formula: Energy= Power * Time]

 ∴ Energy used by 1 fan = 100W * 2hrs. = 200 Whr.

 ∴ Energy used by 3 fans = 200 Whr. * 3 =600 Whr. = 0.6 KWh.    -(2)

c) Similarly,

Given,

 Power of 1 heater= 1.5 KW.

 No. of hours used= 2hrs.

 No. of fan =1.

[Formula: Energy= Power * Time]

 ∴ Energy used by 1 fan = 1.5 KW * 2hrs. = 3 KWh                        -(3)

So, by equation 1, 2 and 3-

Total Energy consumed= (3 + 0.6 + 0.8) = 4.4 KWh.

[Conversion: 1 Kilowatt-Hour (kWh) = 1 unit]

Given, Charge per Unit= ₹5.

∴ Charge for all appliances for 1 day= ?5 * 4.4 = ?22.

Now, as 2016 was a leap year, so it's February month has 29 days.

Calculation for 29 days = ₹22 * 29  = ₹638.
