Explanation:

In female, ovaries release ovum or egg once every 28 days from age of puberty. The uterus prepare itself every month to receive a fertilised egg. Thus its lining becomes thick and spongy. If the egg not get fertilise it lives for about a day. After tht the lining of uterus is no longer needed so mensuration occurs. In simple its a time of uterine bleeding in which an unfertilised egg and the thick uterine lining. It occurs through vagina as blood and mucus.....

Answer

Menstruation occurs in females when the egg produced inside the cervix is not fertilized. Since the egg does not fuse with the male gamete, so the thick and soft lining of uterus having a lot of blood capillaries in it are not required.

Hope it helped
