Plz any one Tell about Question Tag in English Grammer
Answers
Answer:
Is that right? Or do you agree?
Answer:
Question tags are phrases added at the end of a sentence to transform it into question.
Explanation:
Let me start with an example:
The puppy is his. // A normal affirmative(positive) sentence
But when we use a question tag:
The puppy is his, isn't it? //The underlined part is a question tag
So, a question tag is normally made of two words (min) with one verb (i.e is) and one pronoun(i.e. it) and is always followed by a comma
The most important point is --- that it is always the opposite to the type of assertive sentence used (i.e. if the sentence is positive then the question will be negative but when the sentenc. is negative the question will be positive.)
More examples to understand the above conditions:
1. Rita doesn't like chocolates.
ans - Rita doesnt like chocolates, does she?
// notice thenormal sentence is negative but with Q tag it is positive
2. Ram likes Meera
ans - Ram likes Meera, doesn't he?
// notice the normal sentenc. is positive but with the question tag it is negative
All you need to is explore with various verbs and pronoun combinations in a question tag and you would master it!!
:) Hope you learnt something here!!
