Answer:

The health, safety, and well-being of all members of the Elmhurst University campus community are always our top priority and are important as we seek to limit the impact of COVID-19.

The University has published Bluejays Unite! A Return to Campus, which outlines University expectations for faculty, staff, students, and guests in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to these guidelines, the Community Standards contained in the 2020-2021 Elmhurst University Student Handbook guide student behavior. The Community Standards encourage students to engage in responsible conduct that reflects positively upon the University community. The University attempts to establish a climate that encourages responsibility by students for their individual and collective actions.

The following guidelines outlined in Bluejays Unite! and the Student Handbook are important for students to understand in light of concerns with COVID-19:

Hand hygiene: Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after being in a public place, blowing your nose, coughing, sneezing or using the bathroom, and before eating or preparing food. If soap and water aren’t available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that is at least 60% alcohol.

Physical distancing: Stay at least six feet away from others at all times.

Masks: Masks are required to be worn in all University buildings, and masks should be worn outdoors if maintaining physical distancing is not possible. Within all University residential facilities:If you are in your assigned residence hall room/suite/apartment/house by yourself or with only your assigned roommate(s), you do not need to wear a mask.

Housing occupancy: Residents are not permitted to have more than two times the normal occupancy of an assigned residential room, apartment, or house (i.e., a double room may have four people in it) present in their space. Hosting social gatherings that exceed these limits will not be tolerated.

Guests: Until further notice, no visitors will be allowed in the residence halls except fellow Elmhurst students, with the exception of guests helping a student move in or out of a residential facility.

If students continue to exhibit behaviors that are contrary to these expectations, students may be referred to the student conduct process. Anyone who observes repeated or overt student violations of these or other University policies can submit a report on the COVID-19 Behavioral Concern report form.
