Let David's money be x.

Now, Peter's money is 5x.

Now, Peter gives $28 to David.

So, Peter now has 5x-28 $

And David will have x+28 $

As it is given that both Peter and David have equal sums of money.

So, 5x-28=x+28

5x-x=28 + 28

4x= 56

x= 56/4

x= 14

So, David originally had $ 14 and Peter had 5 X 14 => 70 $.

First, create variables:-

P => Amount of money Peter has

D => Amount of money David has

Using these variables, let create an equation to represent the information provided in the problems:-

=> P - 28 = D + 28

=> P = D + 56

Since Peter has 5 times as much money as David, the value of P is equivalent to 5D. Substitute this value into the equation and solve:-

=> 5D = D + 56

=> 4D = 56

=> D = 14

Therefore, David has 14 dollars. However, the question is asking for the amount of money that peter has originally had:-

=> P = 5D

=> P = 5.14

=> P = 70

I hope this will help you dear..
