Answer:1) Ionic compounds do not conduct electricity in solid state because ions are fixed in position and cannot move but in aqueous solution and in molten state they conduct electricity as ions are free to move.

2)Silver articles when exposed to air become black after sometime. This is because the silver metal reacts with sulphur present in the atmosphere and forms silver sulphide (black colour)

3) Chemical reaction doesn't take place when copper is added to iron sulphate solution because copper is less reactive than iron.

4)Aluminium oxide is an amphoteric substance, meaning it can react with both acids and bases, such as hydrofluoric acid and sodium hydroxide, acting as an acid with a base and a base with an acid, neutralising the other and producing a salt.

Ionic compounds in solid state do not conduct electricity where in molten state good conductors of electricity?

Thus, ionic compounds conduct electricity in molten state or solution as in molten state, the electrostatic forces of attraction between the oppositely charged ions are overcome due to the heat but in solid state they do not conduct electricity.

Silver articles when exposed to air gradually turns blackish.?

When silver is exposed to sunlight, it eventually becomes black because the silver metal reacts with the sulphur in the air to form a film of silver sulphide, which is black in colour. ... Silver sulphide is the black material that forms.

Chemical reaction does not take place when copper is added to iron sulphate solution.?

The reaction between copper and ferrous sulfate will not occur because copper is less reactive than iron.

Aluminium oxide is called amphoteric oxide.?

Aluminium oxide is an amphoteric oxide because it reacts with acids as well as bases and gives salts and water. ... Reaction with acid- When Aluminium oxide reacts with Hydrochloric acid it gives Aluminium chloride and water . Aluminium oxide contains oxide ions so react with dilute hydrochloric acid.
