As the near point is 25cm and is a convex lens Therefore for closest distance,
u= - 25cm
f= +5cm
By using lens formula we get,
1/f = 1/v -1/u
=> 1/5 = 1/-25 -1/u
=> 1/u = -1/25-1/5 = -1-5/25 = -6/25
u = -25/6 = -4.2 cm
Let v' be the image distance and u' be the object distance of farthest point, Therefore
For the farthest distance,
v' = ∞
f = 5cm
1/f = 1/v’ -1/u’
=> 1/5 = 1/∞ - 1/u’
u’ = -5cm
Hence the closest distance and farthest distance are - 4.2cm and
- 5cm respectively.
