The acceleration in case 1 will be less than that in case 2

Explanation:

Case 1 :

we know that acceleration of both blocks will be same so we can consider this as a system.

a (net) = 2mg - mg / total mass = mg/3m = g/3

Case 2 :

a (net) = 2mg - mg / total mass = mg/m = g

clearly in case 2 acceleration is more.
