Ethanoic acid is warmed with ethanol in the presence of a few drops of concentrated sulphuric acid a sweet smelling Ester called ethyl ethanoate  is formed.

CH3COOH + C2H5OH ----Conc.H2SO4→ CH3COOH + H2O

This reaction to form an ester is called esterification. This reaction is also used as a test for ethanoic acid.
