An1A molecule is an electrically neutral group of two or more atoms held together by chemical bonds. Molecules are distinguished from ions by their lack of electrical charge.

2. characteristics of molecules of matter:

Molecules retain the complete physical and chemical properties of that matter. Molecules are in the state of continuous motion. Molecules possess kinetic energy. If the intermolecular spaces between the molecules decreases then the intermolecular force increases

3.solid:

●Definite mass, volume, and shape.

●Short Intermolecular distance.

●Strong Intermolecular Forces.

●The constituent particles remain fixed at their positions and can only oscillate about their mean positions.

●Solids are incompressible and rigid.

●High Density.

4. liquids: A liquid is a nearly incompressible fluid that conforms to the shape of its container but retains a (nearly) constant volume independent of pressure. As such, it is one of the four fundamental states of matter (the others being solid, gas, and plasma), and is the only state with a definite volume but no fixed shape.

5. gases: they are easy to compress, (2) they expand to fill their containers, and (3) they occupy far more space than the liquids or solids from which they form. An internal combustion engine provides a good example of the ease with which gases can be compressed.

6. change in state of matters:

Changes of state are physical changes. They occur when matter absorbs or loses energy. Processes in which matter changes between liquid and solid states are freezing and melting. Processes in which matter changes between liquid and gaseous states are vaporization, evaporation, and condensation
