There are two types of alankar :shabad alankar and arth(meaning) alankar
These are further divided
Shabad alankar is divided into three types : Anupraas alankar , Yamak alankar and Shlesh alankar

Anupraas : it means alliteration in english. Repitition of वरन like क,म,व etc.

Shlesh : in a single line of poem a word comes just once, but with different meanings.

Yamak : in a line of a poem, the same word can be many times repeated but always with a different meaning.

Now Arth alankar is divided into 7 types

Upma alankar : where there is a comparison. For eg ; चॉंद सा सुंदर चेहरा ( face)

Ruupakk :where there is a comparison but without use of सा, सी etc. See example in ur book.

Utpreksha : where there is a imagination by using words like मनु, मानो etc.

Manvikaran : representing a non living thing as a living thing. Personification.

Attishiyokti : bahaut zyada varan karna kissi k barre mein.

Punrukti prakash alankar : repitition in continuity but with no difference in their meanings.

Hope it will help you, all the very best for your exams.
