Okay so now , as u have asked this question, let me tell u its a very useful principle both in physics and chemistry. It is one of the important discoveries in the field of science by Antoine Lavoisier (1789).

Now the principle of conservation of mass states that :
Mass can neither be created nor be destroyed in any chemical reaction .
<For example if u take mass of 1 element  and after chemical reaction also , its mass remains the same.
If u just talk about physics , it has two different compatible ways : one as measure of inertia and other as mass responsible for gravitational force.
Here , the theory says that either inertial mass or the gravitational mass , according to this principle of conservation of mass , in different circumstances of measurements taken, always remains constant or same.

Hope this answer helps....thankyou!  :)
