were many French Philosophers and thinkers like
Montesquieu, Roussean, Voltaire, Mirabeau who
exposed the evils prevailing in the system. The ideas
of them were discussed intensively in salons and
coffee-houses and spread among people through
books and newspapers. They inspired people with
the idea of liberty, equality and fraternity.
There was a wide gap between rich and poor people
in the society. Increasing price of staple food caused
a wide spread anger among masses.​
