Answer:

The movement of water molecules from a region of their higher concentration to a region of their lower concentration across a semi permeable membrane is called osmosis. This process continues until the concentration of the solutions is equal on both the sides of the membrane.

The cell sap in root hair has a greater concentration of salts than the surrounding soil water. The concentration of water molecules is higher in the root hair cells. Hence, water enters the root cells through the semi permeable plasma membrane by osmosis.

Explanation:

Osmosis is a type of diffusion that, in biology, is usually related to cells. Diffusion is when molecules or atoms move from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration. Osmosis is when a substance crosses a semipermeable membrane in order to balance the concentrations of another substance.
