plz explain that why the formation of iron and chromium oxide on iron prevents the oxidation of iron in the absence of moisture. why this is happen we dip it in the sol. to reduce the rusting but it is proceeding.why?

See,,,when oxide layer is present on iron,,,direct contact of iron surface with atmosphere is not there,therefor because of no direct contact,no moisture,,,so no corrosion occurs.

But when there is moisture in the air is present,then what happens is ,,,the oxide layer is porous,which means that there are very small size pores are present which will let moisture comes into contact with iron and hence corrosion starts
