In South America, there was a region called Caribbean region. Caribbean region exported tobacco, sugar, indigo, coffee to France. As u know, France is a country in Europe continent, so, the European people didn't want to work in the Caribbean region. As a result, there was a shortage of labour in Caribbean region. Due to this, TRIANGULAR SLAVE TRADE started. It is called triangular slave trade because it occurs between Europe, Africa and America.

The trade was started in 17th century.

Bordeaux and Nantes were the places from where the merchants of France go to Africa by water. Then, the French merchants sell the slaves to the chief of Africa. And then again, the merchants were packed in a box and exported to America by ship in three months. The slaves were sent to America because there was a shortage of labour in Caribbean region, which is situated in America. Finally, the slaves were given to American Plantation Owner, who needed slaves to work in aq fields, and then after, tabacco, sugar, indigo and coffee were exported to France, Europe.
