Santhals(tribal group) had lost their land due to the British and revolted against them. They killed the British and their supporters(people who supported the British). The British (White) soldiers got very less salary. Hazrat Mahal of Lucknow was angry because she lost her kingdom. Many landlords (owners of land) had lost their land due to the British.

Yes British occupied all the land of Jungle where santhals lived for collecting wood and many other things , so in anger santhals protest against the British and killed many of their supporters. And you have written wrong, Indian solders were gives lass salary, and Hazarat mahal was also bitter because the British also captured many of her properties whereas the British at the other side occupied the small lands of small landlords so they were also were very angry of them
