The best way to prepare for and crack any exam is planning in advance. NTSE has three sections MAT , SAT and LAT. Out of the three only the marks of MAT and SAT are considered while preparing the merit list. You only need to qualify the LAT paper with 40% of the total marks. Now on how to prepare…
1. Practice MAT as much as you can
Practice makes the difference. Solve as many questions as you can. This will increase your speed and accuracy.
2. For SSt NCERT is a must
SST is the subject with the highest weightage. The NCERT books of classes 9th and 10th must be thoroughly read. No other reference books are needed, as long as you read NCERT properly.
3. Science and maths
I am from Bihar so my views largely depend on our state's papers. Again, NCERT is a must. But in some points, it won't be enough. You need above school level of knowledge, especially in maths and chemistry.
4.Time management
The paper has 200 questions for which a total time of 180 minutes is allotted, which is less than a minute per question,as for stage 1. So, practice is the key. 2nd stage exam has three separate question papers and OMRs for the three sections, which increases the problem with time.
You can also opt for test series from any coaching institute, this may prove helpful (as it did in my case…I have qualified NTSE stage 1 and I am waiting for my stage 2 results).
Above all, believe in yourself. And all the best for your exams..!!
