What should be added to
4x {}^{3} - 10x {}^{2} + 12x + 6
so that it becomes exactly divisible by
2x + 1
??

Answer:

2x + 1 = 0

x =  -  \frac{1}{2}

putting X = -1/2 in polynomial, we get

4( \frac{ - 1}{2} ) {}^{3}  - 10( -  \frac{1}{2} ) {}^{2}  + 12( -  \frac{1}{2} ) + 6

 - 4 \times  \frac{1}{8}  - 10 \times  \frac{1}{4}  - 6 + 6 =

 -  \frac{1}{2}  -  \frac{5}{2}  =  - 3

so after adding 3 , it become divisible by 2x + 1.
