so effective resistance is 3 ohm

Now 3ohm resistance is in parallel with 1.5 ohm resistance

so effective resistance is 1 ohm

in 3.20 b

resistance on ac and cb line

are in series so effective resistance = 5ohm

resistance on ad and bd line is also in series

so effective resistance = 5 ohm

now three resistance are left 5ohm 1 ohm and 5ohm

all are in parallel

so effective resistance = 1/5+ 1+ 1/5

=7/5= 1/R
