Step-by-step explanation: for (a):

in Δ ECD applying angle sum theorem

35° + 39° + ∠ECD = 180°

∴ ∠ECD = 180° - (74)

             = 106°

Also ∠ECD = ∠ACB  (Opposite angles)

Thus in ΔABC

       x + 48 + 106 = 180

       x = 180 - 154

       x = 26°

part (b)

in ΔKLM

   External angle is the sum of two opposite angles,

∴∠MKL = 105 - 35

              = 70

Now in ΔFKH using same theorem

x = ∠FKL - ∠FHK

    = 70 - 40

    x = 30°
