Answer: (1)  Some substances in coffee beans are soluble because the roasted coffee beans contains soluble as well as insoluble contents. It also depends upon the temperature of water.

(2) The purpose of filter paper is to filter out the insoluble components of  coffee beans and put them in hot water so that the can be made soluble.

(3)  The filtrate- the filtrate is a substance which is able to come out of filter paper after passing through it.

The residue- The residue is the substance which is remains inside the paper and filtered out from the filtrate.

(4) When some insoluble beans of ground coffee are passed through the filter paper, the residue gets dissolved in the water leaving out the filtrate. the mixture thus formed is called true filtration. The sediment is the matter that settles down at the bottom of the liquid.
