petrol is more pure form of crude oil
and diesel has some impurities

Both are refined from crude oil. Gasoline is lighter and more volatile, flammable. Diesel is a heavier and oilier fuel used for diesel engines. In a diesel engine the air is compressed and heated and fuel injected to ignite in the hot air. In a gasoline engine fuel and air is compressed first but ignited by a spark plug.
