An informal letter is one when it is written in a friendly style, to someone who is a familiar person to you. 

Formal letters are written for the purpose of  professional communication need.

Where as  informal letters are written  for  personal communication.

There is a manner standardised for  writing informal letters.

You have got the liberty of writing informal letter in a manner you want.

However  there are a few typical  guidelines are there for  you if you not confident to write independently in typical  format.

An ideal  informal letter comprise of  three sections as follows:

1) Opening of the letter,

2) Body of the letter and

3) Closing of the letter.

There is one final part of an informal letter that is  the signature, which consists of no more than a farewell word with remark and your name.

Main parts are:

Opening: The opening sentence is addressing your friend or familiar person by direct way and not considered very important.

This is fairly straightforward and is usually not as important as it would be for other category of letter like formal letter.

Mr Pearson: Secondly, if you are writing a married  married woman, the correct address is  "Mrs," and to a non-married woman, the correct abbreviation is "Ms.

Body of the letter: The body means content of the letter which  should be written in an intimate manner.
