In the Anaphase the centromere of each Chromosome divides to form two daughter chromosomes.
They remain attached to poles through spindle fibres and start moving towards pole and become shortened.
Reason - In the diagram, the centromere of chromosomes are getting separated to different poles, which happens only in Anaphase.
(If it would have been metaphase then the chromosomes would be aligned at centre.)
