It is simple, let me tell you how to solve it:

= \dfrac{2x - 5}{2x + 3} = \dfrac{1}{8}

= 8(2x - 5) = 1(2x + 3)

= 16x - 40 = 2x + 3

= 16x - 2x = 3 + 40

= 14x = 43

= x = 43/14
