FUNCTIONS of the Villi : Small intestine job is to absorb nutrients from the food that we eat and villi will help small intestine by increasing the surface area of the intestine that has for absorption.The villi also has vessels called lacteals. Lacteals are part of the lymphatic system.

Villi➙ A small projection on the surface of a mucous membrane, such as that of the small intestine.

❖ It is a minute projection arising from a mucous membrane.

❖ It help by increasing the surface area the intestine has for absorption.

❖ It is millions of tiny finger-like structures called villi project inwards from the lining of the small intestine. 

❖ It have capacity to absorb nutrients & liquid from food passing through it.

❖ In villi, there are present numerous blood vessels which absorb the digested food & carry it to the blood stream.
