Answer:

Explanation:

1.  Portia and Morocco are at Belmont, in a room in Portia's house.

2. The several caskets are gold, silver and lead.

Gold-"Who chooseth me shall gain what many men desire."

Silver-"Who chooseth me shall get as much as he deserves."

Lead-"Who chooseth me must risk and hazard all he hath."

3. Morocco feels that the lottery of caskets is based on luck, and his talent or valour does not have any importance here and is of no help, therefore he asks some god(Goddess of fortune)to direct his judgement.

Conditions-

i. He must not divulge his choice of caskets to anyone.

ii. He must not talk to any maiden ever in way of marriage.

iii. He must leave immediately

4. Morocco feels that he deserves Portia in birth, graces, qualities of breeding, fortunes and most importantly because he loves her.

5. Morocco finally chooses the gold casket.

he gives two reasons:

i. Never so rich a gem was set in less than gold.

ii. In England there is a gold coin on which the figure of Archangel Michael is insculped upon, but here Portia's portrait lies within the golden casket (golden bed)

These reasons reveal that morocco is easily influenced by outward appearances, and does not look within.

6. We feel upset for morocco because he truly loved Portia ,yet he lost her.

But on the other hand we also feel happy because Morocco probably realises his error, and he will turn over a new leaf (become less vain and boastful), which will prove best for him.
