Answer:

9. Due to the constant rotation of the earth on its axis, an outward force is generated from the centre of the earth. This force is called Centrifugal force.

As the phenomenon of centrifugal force was first discovered by a French Mathematician Gasoerd De Coriolis in 1844, it is also known as Coriolis force.

10. The rate of atmospheric pressure difference between two different places is called pressure gradient. The velocity of wind becomes more if the amount of pressure gradient force becomes more and it is less if the amount of pressure gradient force is less. The velocity of wind decreases along with decreasing pressure gradient which is mainly dependent on the distance between two different places. Again, this pressure gradient force also can determine the direction of the wind. The direction in which atmospheric pressure decreases, the pressure gradient force is also measured in that direction. Pressure gradient force makes the atmosphere condition of an area quite unstable.

11. Just like all other objects, the gravitational force of the earth has also been pulling the air surrounding it. This gravitational force is a driving force in the movement of air. Along with the increase in the amount of earth's gravitation, the amount of atmospheric pressure increases which leads to decrease in the velocity of wind. Again, when gravitation decreases along with increasing height, atmospheric pressure also decreases leading to more velocity of wind .The gravitational force also determines the direction of wind. It is only because of gravitational force that the movement of air from one place to another becomes curved instead of becoming straight.

15. The air movements occuring the whole earth on the basis of the distribution of the permanent pressure belts on the earth's surface is called primary wind circulation. This wind is also known as planetary wind as it blows covering the entire planet. E.g.: Trade winds, westerlies, etc.

13. The velocity of wind is measured with the help of an instrument called anemometer. Nowadays different types of anemometer instruments are found among with the help of an instrument called Anemograph. The velocity and direction of wind can be automatically recorded.

The unit of wind velocity is Knot. The wind velocity of 1 Knot means 1.854km/h.

14. It is very difficult to find out the exact number of different types of winds on the earth. Still, on the basis of spatial extent, winds can be divided into three major groups-

a. Primary wind circulation: The air movements occuring the whole earth on the basis of the distribution of the permanent pressure belts on the earth's surface is called primary wind circulation. This wind is also known as planetary wind as it blows covering the entire planet. E.g.: Trade winds, westerlies, etc.

b. Secondary wind circulation: The type of wind circulation that blows in different parts of the earth due to the difference in the nature of landforms and differences in the distribution of land and water bodies, regional and seasonal variation in temperature , pressure etc is known as secondary wind circulation. E.g.: Cyclone, anti- cyclone, air mass , etc.

c. Tertiary or Local wind circulation:The wind circulation that takes place in a limited area depending on some purely local factors like topographic variation, altitude variation, etc is known as Local or Tertiary wind circulation. E.g. : Land breeze, sea breeze, mountain wind, etc.
