Mme. Forestier was kind and generous. She was a friend of Matilda Loisel and knew her since their school days. Even though Mme. Forestier was much richer than Mme. Loisel, she was always kind to her friend and helped her whenever possible.
When Mme. Loisel required some ornaments to wear to the ball hosted by the Minister of Public Instruction, she sought the help of her old friend. Mme. Forestier gladly showed her all the jewels she owned and does not deny her from borrowing it.
This behaviour of her shows us that she was a loving, caring and benevolent friend who helped her dear friend in her time of need.

She does not treat Mathilde according to her social status but as a friend. Despite th discrepancies in wealth, she treats her genrously and gives her the necklace of her desire.
- at the end of the story, when Ms. Forestier comes to know about the condition of her Mathilde she tells her the truth that the necklace was not real and feels pity for her friend.
