Why would cells need oxygen? (Hint: - the function of mitochondria we studied earlier provide a clue to this question)

Oxygen is needed by mitochondria which is a cell organelle to produce energy for the cell in the form of ATP.(adenosine triphosphate).This enegy is required by the cell and other cell organelles for their proper functioning.
