Plant cytokinesis involves cell plate formation( precursor of middle lamella, produced by Golgi apparatus ). In this sort of cell division, a split occurs in the center of the cell and extends outward to cell wall ( centrifugal division ).
Animal cell division occurs through cell furrow method. Here, a portion of the cell membrane from either side curves inward until the furrows meet in the middle. This is centripetal.
