so,

1/R¹ = 1/3 + 1/6 => (2+1)/6 => 1/2

R¹ = 2ohm

now,

R² = 9ohm

so total effective resistance will be R¹ + R² = R

R¹ + R² = 2+9

R = 11ohm.
