Given:-

  • A horse is placed for grazing inside a rectangular park 70 m by 52 m.
  • It is tethered to one corner of a rope 35 m long.

To Find:-

The area which the horse can graze.

Solution:-

Note: Refer to the attachment for better understanding

Shaded portion shows the area where horse can graze.

The area is

{\large{{\tt{\frac{1}{4} }}}}

of a circle radius 35 m

Area which the horse can graze =  \large{{{\sf{\frac{1}{4} \pi{r}^{2} }}}}

 = {{{\sf{ \frac{1}{4} \times  \frac{22}{7}  \times 35 \times 35 \: sq.m }}}}

= 962.50 sq. m

Important Formulas:-

★ Area of a square = side × side = (side)²

★ Area of a rectangle = Length × breadth = l × b

★ Area of a circle = π × (Radius) = πr²

 \small{{{\sf{ π =  \frac{22}{7} }}}}

★ Surface area of a cylinder = 2π × Radius × height = 2πrh

★ Surface area of a sphere = 4π × (Radius)² = 4πr²
