Here Dimension of Floor = 15 m × 8 m or 1500 cm × 800 cm (1 m = 100 cm)

Dimensions of Tile = 50 cm × 25 cm

Number of Tiles Required = \frac{Area of Floor}{Area of  one  tile}

= \frac{1500 \times 800}{50 \times 25}

= 960

Hence 960 Tiles are required to cover the floor.

Now,

Margin between the carpet and edge of floor is 1 m

Hence Dimension of Carpeted area = (Length of floor - 2 m) × (Breadth of floor - 2m)

= 13 m × 6 m

Area not carpeted = Area of Floor - Carpeted Area

= 15 × 8 - 13 × 6

= 42 m²

Fraction of floor uncovered = \frac{42}{120} = \frac{7}{20}
