The reasons for these can be cited from poverty, lack of resources to the larger framework of patriarchy itself. I’ve heard many people from different socio-economic strata stating that investing in a girl child’s education is a waste of money. The same people have do not think twice when investing for their son’s education or their daughter’s marriage. The fact that people would rather spend on their daughter’s marriage expenses or dowry instead of education is very disheartening. Social awareness is the only known tool for changing such a mindset. However, it is fortunate that the situation for girls is becoming better and a lot of places in the world have female children are now at par with their male counterparts.
The improvement in safety measures for girl children has improved the attendance rate by a large margin. Schools must spread awareness against child sexual and physical abuse and help them to report these as well. If girls are enabled to protect themselves from sexual predators, they will not fear taking up bigger challenges in their life. Governments have to take care of this aspect when it comes to government schooling (since most of the poor children avail government schooling). We must also look forward to sensitising the faculty members to make sure that no discrimination is meted out to girls. This will take time, but it can be achieved.
The sad part of this is that a lot of
girls lag in schooling due to
menstrual problems after the age
of 12 to 14. It is usually due to
extreme taboos or lack of
affordable sanitary napkins. The
government must make sanitary
pads or other feminine hygiene
products much more accessible and
educate girls on maintaining their
health. Iron and nutrient deficiency
is a severe problem among girls of
menstruating age. Remedies to this
can be ensured with the help of
vitamin supplements and decent
meals in schools
It is clear by its name, that education which is being provided to girl child is known as girl child education.
It isn't something to provide another type of education to girls but instead it is same as the overall education system. It is fairly a way to promote education scope among girls in county like India where girls are being molested and deprived from there rights.
Actually, the necessity of girl child education in our country reflects the backward thinking of people as how conservative of them that they aren't ready to educate the girls.
Besides, the necessity of girl child education can be better understood with the following points :-
1. No doubt that education makes a girl able to take her decisions rightly by herself and it also gives confidence to go against the violence and fighting for your rights. In this sense, girl child education is needed for women empowerment.
2. Crimes like rape, harassment and violation with women are increasing rapidly. If girls are to be made strong and empowered then the crime rate probably may reduce.
3. No nation can move ahead in the path of development if one group of people like women are weak. The progress and development of a country can only be possible if its each and every citizen is developing whether its man or woman.
4. Girl child education boosts gender equality and gives sufficient space to no distinction between girls and boys. Obviously, to establish gender equality in Indian society we need girl child education.
5. It is said that "if a man is educated then only one person is educated but if a woman is educated then whole family is educated". By providing education and opportunities to girls then surely girls can bring a change in social mindsets of people.
On other conclusion can be given on this topic rather than saying how obligatory girl child education is. Our country has reached on Mars then why its citizens are in villages till date and aren't ready to change their conservative thinking towards girls? The condition of Indian society can only be made secure when girls are provided quality education.
