8. i) Mass is the quality of matter of an object whereas weight of an body is the force with which it is attracted towards the centre of the earth.

ii) The SI unit of mass is kg whereas the SI unit of weight is N

iii) The mass of an object is constant whereas the weight of an body changes according to the change in acceleration due to gravity.

iv) The mass of an object can never be zero but the weight of an body can be zero.

9. Though the earth attracts the moon with certain force but they do not cause any motion, because the mass of the moon is very less as compared to that of the earth, and as a result , it's force of attraction is comparatively less to that of the earth. Thus, the earth

does not moves towards the moon.

10. A school bag has a wide strap made of thick cloth so that the weight of bag may fall over a large area of the shoulder of the child producing less pressure on the shoulder ,and due to less pressure it is more comfortable to carry the heavy school bag . On the other hand, if the school bag has a strap made of thin string then the weight of the school bag will fall over a small area of the shoulder, this will produce a large pressure on the shoulder of the child and it will become very painful to carry the heavy school bag .
