Area of a shaded region is 800 cm

Area of a square= (Side * Side)sq.unit

                           = (40 * 40)sq.cm

                           =1600^{2}

Area of a triangle= \frac{1}{2} * Base * Height

                            = \frac{1}{2}*40 * 40

                            =800^{2}cm

Area of a shaded region= Area of a square-Area of a triangle

                                        = 1600^{2} - 800^{2}

                                        =800cm^{2}
