Speech On Drug Abuse: The drug is a substance that can cause the death of an organism if taken more than the dosage. It causes a change in the physiological and psychological structure of the organism when it is consumed. There are various mediums through which one can intake or consume drugs like smoking, inhalation, injection, etc.

In pharmacy terms, a drug is a chemical substance, that is typical of a known structure, which, when entering into a living organism, produces a biological effect. The other name given to pharmaceutical drugs is medicine or medication. It mainly treats cures or prevents a disease present in a body. Pharmaceutical drugs should be used for a limited time, or it may cause severe disorders if taken regularly.

Drug addiction also known as substance dependence can be defined as a drug users compulsive need so that he or she can function normally. When such substances are not available to the addict he or she is said to be suffering from substance withdrawal.

Drug addiction has emerged as one of the major social problem in most of the developed and developing countries and undoubtedly proves to be a major hindrance in the proper growth and development of the an individual, society, nation and the world as a whole.

India is a developing country and it already poses other major problems such as poverty, unemployment and illiteracy; the problem of drug addiction is like a cherry on the cake of these problems.

Some drug addicts can afford purchasing expensive drugs but most of them have to indulge in activities like theft even at their own houses! These individuals are not thieves but they are compelled to commit this crime because of the reason that they are compelled for the fulfillment of their own desires.

A drug addict is compelled by his senses to continue with the addiction, but soon the individual realizes the need to get out of the habit as soon as possible. They just need a helping hand and we should give all support and encouragement to get all these addicts back to a normal life, that they long for.
