From figure we can consider that a parallelogram is placed inside a rectangle .
so adding the numbers in the opposite sides in fig 1
101 + 15 = 116 ..... 1
35 + 43 = 78 ...... 2
now subtract 2 from 1
116 - 78 = 38
in figure 2 do the same
48 +184=232 ...... 3
34 +56=90............4
subtract 4 from 3
232-90 = 142
