roots = x and b

sum of roots= (x+b)

products of roots= (xb)

equation= 4x^2+2x-1=0

=x^2+(1/2)x -(1/4)=0

rule'

x^2 - sum of roots + product of root = 0

(x+b)= -(1/2)

(xb)= -(1/4)

\frac{1}{x} +\frac{1}{b}  =

=(x+b)/xb

=(-1/2)/(-1/4)

=2

Answer:

let \: x \: and \:  \beta  \: are \: roots \: of \: given \: eqn. \\4  {x}^{2}  +2 x - 1 = 0

sum \: of \: roots = x +  \beta  =  \frac{ - b}{a}  \\ product \: of \: roots = x \beta  =  \frac{c}{a}

we \: get \\ x \beta  =  \frac{ - 1}{4}   \\ x +  \beta  =  \frac{ - 1}{2}

 \frac{1}{x}  +  \frac{1}{ \beta }  =  \frac{ \beta  + x}{x \beta }

 \frac{1}{x}  +  \frac{1}{ \beta }  =  \frac{ \frac{ - 1}{2} }{ \frac{ - 1}{4} }

 \frac{1}{x}  +  \frac{1}{ \beta }  = 2 \\ which \: is \: required \: result.
